Skin care, mask wear - Ellen Darlison

Skin care, mask wear.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I certainly have, since wearing a mask little spots have been popping up all over the place on the bottom half of my face.

Are you struggling with this too?

Due to wearing a face mask for longer periods of time we are experiencing more breakouts, congestion, rashes and eczema.

Firstly we need to make sure that our face masks are being sanitised frequently, It’s not too tight and it’s kind to your skin.

Secondly, skin care! ( my favourite bit ). The most important part of this is to make sure your skin is hydrated, drinking water alone won’t cut it. By keeping our skin hydrated it will help improve the barrier function of the skin.

Cleansing your skin morning and night with a hydrating cleanser is the first step in improving our skin's barrier. I wouldn’t recommend cleansing every time after

wearing a mask as this can have the opposite effect and start to dry out the skin.

Look at using a highly moisturising face cream. This will hydrate and help protect our skin's natural barrier.

Be careful when exfoliating or scrubbing, especially over any breakouts or rashes as it may cause it to worsen.

When looking for products to help protect your skin, look for ingredients such as: hyaluronic acid, green tea extract, colloidal oatmeal and turmeric as these all help to hydrate, soothe and are an anti inflammatory.

We just need to treat our skin with a bit of love and care. It will be back to its glowing self in no time.
